Helping Seller Central FBA merchants keep selling in response to coronavirus Amazon service suspension

Fulfillment by Amazon temporarily suspended for non-essential Seller Central products

Amazon recently announced that they are prioritizing household staples and medical supplies into their fulfillment centers. Prioritizing certain products will negatively impact Seller Central users that rely on Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA).

Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) allows third-party sellers to ship and store their products at Amazon’s warehouses, allowing Amazon to handle the fulfillment of customer orders. Since Amazon has direct access to the product, they can quickly ship it to the customer. For now, this service is on hold for a large number of merchants.

Here is a statement from Amazon:

“We are seeing increased online shopping, and as a result, some products such as household staples and medical supplies are out of stock,” the company announced on its seller platform called Seller Central. “With this in mind, we are temporarily prioritizing household staples, medical supplies, and other high-demand products coming into our fulfillment centers so that we can more quickly receive, restock, and ship these products to customers.”

Amazon defines essential items to include “baby products; health and household items; beauty and personal care; grocery; industrial and scientific; and pet supplies.”

Helping to ensure Seller Central merchants can continue with sales and fulfillment operations

To help Seller Central merchants deal with this temporary suspension, starting today (March 18th, 2020), we will be rolling out free access to our Amazon MWS Real-time Order API connector. This service will be available at no additional cost to all customers until April 30th, 2020.

The Openbridge MWS Real-time Order API connector can get you the order data directly from Amazon. Having direct access to the order data will allow you to find alternate pathways for fulfillment until Amazon lifts the temporary hold. While Fulfillment By Merchant (FBM) is less convenient than the Amazon FBA service, quick access to order data for FBM may prevent a complete shutdown of your sales pipeline.
